Strategy & Planning

  • Enforcement of policies, procedures and associated plans for system security administration and user system access based on industry-standard best practices
  • Review the security and compliance posture of current systems, and assist in performing information security assessments or audits of internal networks and systems
  • Assist in defining and conducting vendor risk audits
  • Assess need for any security reconfigurations (minor or significant) and execute them if required
  • Keep current with emerging security alerts and issues
  • Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of security enhancement and development efforts

Operational Management

  • Deploy, manage and maintain security systems and their corresponding or associated software, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, cryptography systems, and anti-virus software (with a willingness to learn that which you don't already know)
  • Review end user accounts, permissions, and access rights
  • Manage connection security for local area networks, the company Web sites, the company intranet, and e-mail communications
  • Assist in penetration testing of all systems in order to identify system vulnerabilities
  • Monitor server logs, firewall logs, intrusion detection logs, and network traffic for unusual or suspicious activity. Interpret activity and make recommendations for resolution
  • Reviews and evaluates patch reconnaissance performed by the IT and recommend, schedule (where appropriate), and apply fixes and security patches in accordance with vulnerability Management Lifecycle
  • Improve security efficiency, streamlines work processes and works collaboratively with IT department personnel to accomplish objective
  • Provide end-user training/knowledge transfer sessions to facilitate peer growth.

Desired Skills & Experience

Formal Education & Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or closely related field is preferred
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in Information Technology, preferably Security Operations
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in working full-time as an Information Security Professional
  • Professional security certification strongly preferred, such as CISSP, CISA, CEH, applicable GIAC programs or other industry certifications i.e. Cisco, Microsoft, VMware
  • The ability to speak and communicate effectively in Spanish is a plus

Knowledge & Experience

  • Strong policy and process knowledge including industry regulations, IT auditing skills, and the expertise to deal with a variety of technologies and customers
  • Extensive knowledge of Firewalls, Web Proxies, and web Application Firewalls
  • Good knowledge of security pertaining to Microsoft back-office platforms, including Windows Server, SQL Server
  • Must have the ability to evaluate LAMP type environments
  • Good knowledge of Local Area Networking technologies such as TCP/IP, configuration and security of switches and routers (Cisco and HP are a plus)
  • Familiarity with multi-factor authentication and the process of deploying such technology (is a plus as we are deploying this in the near future)
  • Familiarity with Incident Response processes and procedures
  • Skilled in configuring, deploying, and monitoring corporate security tools
  • Ability to resolve security issues in diverse and decentralized environments
  • Wireless security technologies and program implementations is preferred
  • Ability to use discretion when handling confidential information
  • Ability to set priorities and adapt to changes in a quick, professional manner
  • Demonstrated technical independence in highly complex and integrated environments.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and coworkers
